Gender Pay Gap Workshops:
The gender pay gap is an undeniable problem for women across all industries, but there are disappointingly few initiatives to address it. Importantly, in states such as Georgia, a region saturated with traditional values on gender-roles, there is an ever-increasing urgency to combat this societal problem. By equipping women with tools to independently increase their salary, we can contribute to reducing the pay gap. We hope to develop an instructive program that can give women important salary negotiation skills. Many cities have made similar efforts on a large scale, and I think it would be pertinent and manageable to create such a program for students at the University of Georgia, which can in turn be used as a launching pad to develop similar workshops for adults living in the Athens area.
